Volunteer with the 2024 Isle Play Pickleball Tournament!

The Isle Area Pickleball Association will be hosting our third summer tournament – but the FIRST on our newly built 8-court complex. Dates are July 12-14. To pull this off we’ll need many volunteers.

If you would like to help make this event a success, please contact Karen Tramm or email [email protected] and indicate that you are interested in volunteering for the tournament. We’ll be in touch!

NOTE: Volunteers will be asked to commit to a half day – Morning or afternoon on each of these days – to allow plenty of time to watch games or take in Isle Days.

Why Volunteer?

  • You’ll meet other pickleball enthusiasts
  • You will get to contribute to the success of our Association and the Isle Days celebration.
(If the tournament sells out, proceeds will be used by our association for court improvements and/or new construction)
  • You’ll witness first hand tournament EXCITEMENT!!!

Volunteer Needs for the Isle Play Pickleball Tournament 2024

Two (2) On-Site Event Coordinators are needed.
This is the only volunteer role with a three-day commitment (July 12-14, 2024).

Duties include:

  1. In advance of the tournament, become familiar with our rules, registration, and site logistical plans.
  2. Arrive early to coordinate the “to do list” with volunteers who will set up nets, hand out welcome packets, set up temporary shelter for command center, P.A. system, bracket boards, award podium, etc.
  3. Dispatch volunteers throughout the day as needed.
  4. Respond to player inquiries that cannot be resolved at the registration desk.
  5. Be a decision maker (in real time) on how to best keep play progressing, how to manage weather delays, and any “issues” that may arise.
  6. Announce each event prior to and again at official start and other incidental announcements.

If you are interested, please talk to Karen Tramm or email [email protected]

Eight (8) Court Monitors are needed daily.
This would include two (2) at each venue in the morning, and two (2) at each venue in the afternoon.

NOTE: You will not serve as a referee (in/out calls, kitchen violations, etc.)

Duties Include:

  1. Hand out new balls if balls break.
  2. Manage the 1-Minute Time Outs. (each team has one T/O per game)
  3. As each game finishes, record final scores and winning team.
  4. In the unlikely event that tempers flare or un-sportsmanlike conduct is observed, both court monitors are to approach and gather all four players together. Explain the following:

– The next team to raise their voice will be disqualified and opposing team will be awarded the win.
– They have one minute to talk amongst themselves to resolve the issue and resume play or both teams are disqualified.
– Let them observe you start your timer (on your phone).

If you are interested, please talk to Judie or Mark, or you can fill out the Volunteer Contact Form below and specify this role.
