Today, August 14th, marks a special day in our organizations history.  One year it ago was determined that with many very generous donations, grants, community sponsors, Isle Schools support, and lots of volunteers for various activities, we had raised the necessary funds to break ground on the 8 new courts we play on today!  One year early!
A lot has happened in that year, below is a list of the projects that have been invested in so far totaling approximately $216,000.
6/2023 – Net Materials & Paint
8/15/2023 – Building Permit
8/21/2023 – Fence 50% Down
8/31/2023 – Engineering, excavation, asphalt

Mark said if we build it, they will come, and they have indeed.  We estimate that between women’s and men’s league, open play, general usage, family reunions, Isle visitors, and others the courts are supporting 200 plus passionate pickleball players a week! Fantastic!
We are not done, however I’m excited to declare our capital campaign complete as we transition to phase 2 and maintenance.
Before the snow flies we intend to receive and install benches / tables, complete the shade feature, install ball holders, complete our sponsor signage, bring back our storage bin and also make sure the IREC is ready to go for when the snow arrives.  We will also work to make sure balls don’t go under the doors!
We are now looking forward to 2025, prioritizing projects and setting the budget. Number one on that list is $5,000 / year to be tucked away for future painting and maintenance needs.  After maintenance projects for next year being considered include, additional shade and additional seating.
Feedback has been amazing, with many people asking how we pulled this off.  I say the same thing every time.  The IAPA is made up of an amazing and very generous group of people!
Thank you again to everyone that has contributed time, talent, and funds to make this happen!
It was a great year!!
